A few years ago (yes, I did type "years"), I began a project. It was to be a simple, squared quilt for my Goddaughter.
I hauled all the fabric to Florida. I cut the fabric and batting squares and even managed to get the squares sewn together.
Then, we suddenly had to return home.
The next time I went to get the blanket pieces out there were a lot missing. A whole lot. In fact, most of them were gone.
For some reason, instead of tossing out the remaining squares, I put the bag away and there it stayed.
Until Sunday, when I made the decision/resolution that this is the year to finish all my UFO (Unfinished objects) in the sewing area.
So I pulled out the squares and began to sew them in a strip. I ended up with fours strips. Not nearly enough for a quilt.
Without further ado I sewed the strips together, hoping that once they were all together I would have a genius flash and know what it was that the squares were destined to be.
The squares became strips, and the strips became a piece of fabric. Then I waited. And waited. So the fabric decided it was to become a pillow.
Sigh. After all that it would be a pillow. Well, I was too far into it now, so a pillow it would be. Where it would end up - who knows!
I sewed it on the three sides, and mostly the fourth side and got out the fiberfill.
Then the pillow decided it wanted those little pieces of yarn that you see on old quilts and things. Fine.
The better part of the next day was spent sewing on those little strings. After going and getting the yarn of course, for I am a sewing woman - not a knitter.
The strings were attached and finally I would be free of the pillow!
Nope, not so fast. The pillow now decided that corner tassels would be a great touch and it should have them.
Fine, anything to be free of the silly thing once and for all!
So the tassels were attached and the pillow stuffed and sewn closed.

And then it happened. I looked at that silly pillow and realized:
Well of course it had to come to life, T's rocker needed a special pillow. A pillow sewn and placed with love and care.
And now it had one. I think it even smiled.
I hope they both like it there.
